Dine-LI Small Business Market at Samanea Westbury mall to feature 60 food vendors
If you haven’t visited Westbury’s Samanea New York (formerly The Mall at the Source), Saturday could be the day. In addition to its newest tenant, the vast Asian 99 Ranch Market, the shopping center is hosting the second Small Business Market organized by the Facebook group, Dine-LI.
The event, located on the second floor, will feature more than 100 local food and craft vendors. Advance tickets for admission are $10 ($15 at the door) and proceeds will go to Rescuing Families Inc., a Franklin Square-based not-for-profit that supports community members’ lives through necessary home improvements. The first event, in Feb., raised $12,000 for Last Hope Animal Rescue.
Food will be available for purchase from 60-plus vendors; a combination of brick-and-mortar stores and traveling producers whose wares usually pop up at farmers markets and festivals. At the last Small Business Market, there was a run on chicken potpies from Bohemia-based rolling smoker-caterer, The BBQ King, which will be back with more hot pies.
The Cake Don (Huntington) will be on the scene with cupcakes and so will Prime Time Butcher (Woodbury), Ice Cream Social (Commack), A Little Brittle Heaven, All American Wontons, Angie’s Empanadas, Halesite Habanero hot sauce, Hella Good Cream Puffs, Macaron 5 Chic, Naela’s Mediterranean Market and TerraNut snacks. There will be at least four artisanal bakers: A Mano Baking Company, NoFo Flour Shoppe, Scott’s Sourdough and Side Hustle Bread.
Also on tap: tastings, caricatures, gift-card raffles and live music.
The event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Samanea New York, 1504 Old Country Rd., Westbury. For more information go to facebook.com/events. To purchase tickets, go to eventgroove.com.
